Interiors that look like
a real publisher made them.
Readers judge a book by its inside too. Our typesetters design clean, readable interiors for paperback, hardcover and eBook, built to the exact specs of every platform you publish on.
Bad formatting says self-published in one glance.
Cramped margins, uneven spacing, the wrong font and chapters that start halfway down a left page all signal that a book was put together at home. Readers notice, even if they cannot say why.
Our typesetters follow the conventions of traditional publishing: correct margins and gutters, balanced pages, proper front and back matter, and typography chosen for your genre.
For eBooks we build clean, reflowable files that look right on Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo and phones, and fixed-layout files for picture books and heavily designed titles.

Common trim sizes and what they suit
- 5 x 8 inches: fiction, memoir and short nonfiction
- 5.5 x 8.5 inches: novels and general nonfiction
- 6 x 9 inches: nonfiction, business and longer novels
- 8.5 x 8.5 or 8 x 10 inches: picture books and illustrated titles
- 8.5 x 11 inches: workbooks, journals and manuals
Your trim size affects page count, printing cost and spine width. Use our free page count and spine calculator to compare options, or ask us to recommend one during your consultation.
Formatting and proofreading
We recommend a final proofread on the formatted pages, because layout can introduce new issues such as bad line breaks. Once the interior is final, our cover designers can size the spine exactly.
